Well you have already heard a little about Coffee Bay and seen some surfing shots (hope you liked them). As out stay in Coffee Bay moved on we kept surfing lots but the swell got smaller and it was only really working on the lower tide so we had to do other things to keep ourselves busy. Now in Coffee Bay this isn't too hard, and just lying in a hammock reading a book isn't a bad way to pass the time! But their are other options too…

I guess Hole in the Wall was best summed up by a Dutch traveller who I was talking to. She said she saw a photo of it, asked someone where it was and decided she had to go to Coffee Bay so she could go to Hole in the Wall. It is just one of those places you have to go if you appreciate beauty in nature and something different. And the best way to do it of course is walking there. The 10km walk along the cliffs is quite a 'trek' (hike) but is well worth it for the views and the exercise of course! It was definitely no easy walk but everyone did it and we had a great guide in Ayanda who showed the guys the way. He trained as a Sangoma (local doctor) but chose to rather build drums at Coffee Shack. He was a great guide and his knowledge on the local area was great.

Each day Coffee Shack offers an activity for the day and the guys went on a walk to some bat caves and a natural 'jacuzzi' and a rock jump. It seems like rock jumps have been a bit of a theme on this trip, with J-Bay, Mapuzi and up the river at Hole in the Wall too. It is good fun and a nice little adrenaline rush!

Bomvu is the river which Coffee Shack is located on and looks out on Bomvu Bay (see photos from last blog). Every now and again the sand lines up right and there can be some really fun waves there. It works when the wind is onshore at coffee bay and I had heard it had been good. We were lucy enough to get it on the one day, it definitely was not all-time, but fun none the less, although the group chose to rather watch as it breaks very near the rocks. Just more good waves…

South Coast next, boardshorts and guaranteed swell!!
