Overview

Looking for your next ski adventure?

Getting off the beaten track is the foundation upon which Ticket to Ride was originally built back in 2002. We were bored of the same old trips and couldn't persuade friends who were settling down to come on crazy adventures with us anymore, so it’s our aim to keep pushing the barriers of snow adventuring.

Join us in Niseko this winter to experience the famously light and endless powder in Japan and see why it is ‘the’ place to ski or snowboard. We are experienced providers of surf and snow adventures and always searching the globe for the best destinations to pursue our passions.

What to Expect

Top Reasons To Go To Niseko

Powder

Niseko consistently gets 15m+ of snow each season, so much more than anywhere else in the world. It’s also consistently to be light, dry and fluffy with tree runs, open powder fields and plenty of places to explore in the backcountry, Niseko is the place to go for your powder fix.

Lack of crowds

You don’t have to go far to avoid the crowds here, and make your own fresh tracks. There’s nearby resorts as well which simply don’t get many visitors, but still get the same amount of snowfall.

Night Skiing

Lifts are open until 8:30pm most nights in Niseko, so it is easy to take advantage of this amazing experience with the mountain taking on a whole different perspective. The main runs are lit up at night and the light penetrates through the trees making for some challenging skiing or riding. A must for anyone looking for a new skiing adventure this winter!

Culture

From the moment you step off the plane, this is no ordinary ski holiday. Japan is a beautiful country with an amazing history and culture, and you can experience all of this in Hokkaido. From relaxing in a traditional onsen, to eating sushi after skiing and being faced with Japanese road signs, it all makes this trip an incredible experience.

Views

Niseko faces the stunning Mt Yotei, which will become your symbol of the trip and end up being the backdrop of most of your photos. Add to that the picturesque tree runs and feeling of immense space you feel in Niseko and you will come back with some amazing photos.

Adventure

Like nowhere else! Niseko is well set up for your ski holiday, with the largest lift and run infrastructure in Japan, so you can easily get around. There’s also a number of accessible nearby resorts meaning every day is varied, and you can ride the best conditions without the crowds.

Our reputation is built on the truly memorable experiences that our snow adventures can provide. Like snowflakes, no snow trip is ever the same. We have built a thoroughly comprehensive package to offer a unique experience like no other.

FAQs

Got a question about this course? Here's the best place to start. If you don't find your answer here, you can request a callback or get in touch using our contact page.

At Ticket To Ride, we always aim to operate in the resort we feel is the best in the country we want to work in. For us, Niseko is the largest resort with great snow, skiing and other amenities available for our guests.

You will need to get to Chitose Airport in Sapporo, Hokkaido to pick up our transfer to resort. It is only around 2 hours from here to Niseko.

If bought well in advance, a return from London to Chitose Airport in Sapporo during the winter comes to between £500 and £700 depending on the route and airline you choose.

General ski gear, with good layers for changeable weather conditions, and good waterproofing for the endless snow! Goggles are useful, especially with low light lenses as it does snow a lot, and powder skis/ board would be recommended (or you can hire in resort). Bring some casual clothes for relaxing in the evenings, and swimwear if you want to go to a spa.

Our trips are designed for serious skiers and snowboarders, wanting a new adventure. We get mostly solo travellers, and a few couples or small groups of friends so they are perfect if you want to explore somewhere new with a great group of likeminded snow lovers, and with the backing of a company who organise lots of elements of the trip for you. Our general age range of guests is 25 - 40 but we welcome anyone 18+ with a love for adventure!

As the altitude of the Japanese mountains are lower, it doesn’t get nearly as cold as it can do in Canada for example. Average lows are around -5 degrees so no need for really heavy duty gear. Better to have good waterproofing as with all the powder you can get wet!
