Overview

Designed for individuals wishing to work within the surf school industry, this qualification provides the skills and knowledge required to carry out rescues, first aid and CPR if the situation arose.

There is no timed swim for this award but candidates must be able to run 200 meters in under 1 minute and be confident in the surf environment.

What to Expect

The Surf Coach Safety and Rescue Award is ideal for individuals who only wish to work as a surf instructor. For students who wish to keep their options open, it’s worth gaining the full SLSGB Surf Lifeguard Award which also allows you to work as a lifeguard.

The course will take place in Newquay, between the hours of 9am and 5pm - all course materials will be provided on arrival, but don't forget your wetsuit!

FAQs

Got a question about this course? Here's the best place to start. If you don't find your answer here, you can request a callback or get in touch using our contact page.

This is one of the most respected combination of qualifications and will allow you to work all around the world.

After you pass, the qualification is valid for 2-years. After this you will need to take a 'Refresher' course every 12-months. This is shorter & cheaper than the full award. If you don't take your refresher course in time then you will need to retake the full SLSGB course.

You will need to bring your own surf equipment: surfboard, wetsuit, boots etc if it's cold! Also bring some lunch or cash, waterbottle, suncream if required, a towel, warm change of clothes, as well as pen and paper. All course learning material will be provided on arrival.
