Although we had a few great sessions in Coffee Bay, on the whole we were unlucky with the surf in Coffee Bay as massive swells and strong onshore winds battered the coastline for the greater part of our stay really showing us why its called the Wild Coast but when it was respectable we were out there and really pushing the limits of our surfing with challenging and sometimes big conditions. The walk to the line up from our backpackers is one of the highlights for me as you walk over a beautiful hill along the sea side and get greeted by this little bay that has a beach break and right hand point break. Often in the water we’d also encounter pods of Dolphins and Whales swimming passed.
The Coffee Shack was very lively during the evenings with African drummers playing around the fire while we enjoyed a few cocktails with other guests and locals and on most nights there was a real party atmosphere. The highlight for us though was our Halloween party. We all dressed to impress and collectively as a group and as individuals we really ‘wowed’ everybody with our effort and created a great atmosphere for a great night in which the whole backpackers got involved.
Our stay in Coffee Bay was one of the highlights of the trip for me and credit really goes out to all the wonderful people we get to meet and bond with along the way. The Coffee Shack was so hospitable and really looked after us. None of us will soon forget our stay in Coffee Bay.

The surf in Coffee Bay may not have been perfect, but what a place to go surfing, the scenery doesn’t get better!
