This is arguably the most beautiful place area in South Africa. The Transkei is so unique with it’s endless rolling hills, carefully crafted mud huts, beautiful coastline of beaches and cliffs and the feeling of peace and remoteness which you experience when you are here. Everyone is so ‘stoked’ to be here and it is guaranteed to be an awesome next 10 days here. ??We had a great short stay in East London. The highlight was undoubtedly the quad biking safari. Riding quad bikes was a new experience for many of us and was a little harder to get used to for some than we expected. I, for one, managed to ride into a bush on the practice run. We got used to them though and had loads of fun riding around on the trails through the game reserve and on some rocky terrain here and there. We got to see some Wildebeest, Impala and Kudu but the focus for most was more on having fun on the bikes. There were some spectacular wipeouts as well but everyone came out alive and with a white grin on their face behind the mud and dust which was covering the rest of our bodies. ??

On the Wednesday we had a lovely beach day with sun shining, light winds and some fun waves. The morning was spent surfing and in the afternoon we hit the dunes sandboarding. Though it isn’t quite snowboarding it is still loads of fun and you get some good speed down the dune. Needless to say there were more crashes to be had and sand can feel like cement when you are speeding along!??The waves which we surfed in East London were all beach breaks which was quite a change from Jeffreys Bay. This proved tricky for the group but they learnt about surfing peaks at beachbreaks and some great rides were had at Nahoon Corner one morning, as well as at Easterns and Glen Eden.??As a farewell from East London, Ticket to Ride and Sugar Shack put on a fish feast braai. Andre organised and prepared some extremely tasty fish on the braai whilst Sam cooked up the rice and prepared a salad to go with it. Although it took a while, as most braai’s do, it was a delicious meal and there was plenty to go around. ??Most of the crew have gone for a surf here at Coffee Bay now, with a couple of waves at the point and the beach looking really fun. A great thing here at Coffee Shack where we are staying is the Day Trips which they run every day. Today’s trip is to Hole in the Wall which is about a 10km hike along the coast and one of the most beautiful hikes I have done. Some of the crew have taken it on today so we’ll find out how they got along later. Other things to do here include cliff jumping into the sea, going for walks and the opportunity to spend a night in the local Xhosa village.

The locals her are very friendly and there are some beautiful local crafts which the locals sell to try and make a living. Essentially we really are in Africa out here and it feels fantastic. As Frosty said yesterday, you feel like you should whisper when you talk, as otherwise you may be spoiling the peace.??I hope you all have a great weekend.?Until next time then?Chris
