Hi all and welcome back to Cintsa
This is just a quick update to let you all know how we’ve been getting on. The surf conditions have not been in our favour for the past few days, so we’ve turned our attention towards the other aspects of the course, namely the surf coaching award. As part of the award, each rider is required to complete a timed swim to prove competency in the water. Riders need to complete 400m in under 9 minutes. Since our first swim in Cape Town nearly a month ago, we’ve been putting in loads of time towards fitness and stamina training and the efforts are definitely baring fruit. Some of the guys have slashed as much as 3 minutes off their original times and are well under the limit, which is great news. There’s still a bit of work to do before Durban, but we’re looking really good for the meantime!
It hasn’t all been hard work though! We’ve been playing some water polo, which is really great for your stamina in the water. It’s been quite a favourite for our crew so we’ve been playing quite a bit lately. We’ve also taken some time to explore some of the local area. Today we packed a lunch and had a big, old, braai on the beach which was classic!! Then we went out to watch a few of the waves from the cliffs overlooking the bay.
The conditions look to be improving from Monday so here’s holding thumbs for that offshore to finally blow though. When it does, we’ll be ready and waiting, so until then
Take Care
