September is and always will be my favourite time of year, and I am not alone in thinking this, many of my friends share these same sentiments. So why is September so good? What makes it so special??
The main reason is because after the rather mild Summer swells we finally get some proper "Ground Swells" which travel many hundreds and even thousands of miles producing some epic waves which break on our lovely Cornish Coastine. The water has had all summer to warm up and is a very comfortable 17-18 degrees….nice. And above all as much as we love people coming down to enjoy the glorious West Country, its nice as you sigh a breath of relief knowing that after a really busy season and once the last Bank Holiday in August comes to a close, the kids go back to school and the crowds start to thin out. Cornwall on the whole quietens down.
Another bonus is you can also get some cracking sunny days, one like today infact, as im writing this its glorious sunshine with temperature in the 20s and looking across the beach there are only a scattering of people taking advantage of the sun, where as compared to this time as little as 2 weeks ago it was rammed on the beach. An "Indian Summer" is what I think its referred to? I dont know what it is, but I like it, and its just another reason why September is so special.
So has this September lived up to these high expectations so far this year? …………… yes it has and more. As predicted come the 1st of September just like clockwork old Mother Nature has produced the goods with Swell after Swell of huge proportion serving up some amazing waves. And whats best of all we are only half way through this month, and with October (Another great month) just around the corner looks like we are in for a cracking Autumn.
So if you really want to see Cornwall at its best, great waves, sunny days, warm water and no crowds. What you waiting for come down and see us at the Surf School and you too could be in for some tasty treats……….this is after all, when the fun begins!!!
