As I was saying in the last blog Cape Town was action packed and a really great stop. With penguins, wine tasting, surfing and getting involved with Tim and the Isiqalo foundation as well as the local football team we had a great time. Cape Town has too many things going on to really be able to see it all in ten days, but we do our best, and a few extra days wouldn't make a big difference. Everyone had enjoyed it and were ready to move on.
Boulders beach and the opportunity to see penguins is always a hit in Cape Town. They really are just such odd creatures and it is great to be able to see them up close and just 'hang out' with them a bit. Often we just go to see them, but with the South Easterly wind blowing the waves into a mess we went down to the beach and got to swim with them and just enjoy an afternoon at the beach.
The wine tasting is something which just has to be done, whether it be in Cape Town, Stellenbosch or any other farm along the Garden Route. South Africa has some great wines and one could easily spend ten days just visiting the different vineyards!! Our choice is Klein Constantia and they are best know for their white wines and their amazing dessert wine, the Vin de Constance. We got a tour of the whole place to get a better idea of how wine is actually made and did the wine tasting afterwards. There were some delicious wines, with the finale of the Vin de Constance melting mouths as usual.
Wie continued mixing our surfs up between Muizenberg and Long Beach. Muizenberg finally got a bit of offshore to it so we enjoyed the clean, warm conditions over the weekend and made the most of it. We also went for a little drive around the Peninsula to see some of the other surf spots that are littered around Cape Town.
Plett is stop two on the trip which is where we are now… check back in soon to see what its all about. Its gonna be exciting with things like bungy jumping and skydiving though!
Chow for now,
Chris
