Having arrived in South Africa last Thursday, we (Lottie Oscar and I) headed straight to Jeffreys Bay, one of my favourite stops on Ticket to Ride South Africa surf adventure courses.
As a town, Jeffreys Bay represents everything that you would expect from a surfer town, good waves, lots of surf shops and surfer style café’s to hangout in. However, unlike many other ‘surfer’ towns, Jeffreys Bay has genuine routes to surfing history and surfing culture and the waves aren’t just waves, they are seriously world class waves, famous throughout the world.

Combining world class surf breaks with world class coaching (this year we have one of our strongest line up of surfing talent and coaching expertise) and putting that alongside genuine surfing culture is what we are all about here at Ticket to Ride, so to be back here and amongst all the smiling faces, the wide eyed looks as what is truly possible in surfing reveals itself to the group, is energising and inspirational to say the least.
Over the next week and half that I am out here, chatting to those that are actually living out their ticket to ride experience gives me even more insight into where and how we can continue to develop and grow, something that can only happen with the support of past, future and current surfers coming along for the ride.
The weather is at its best, clear blue sunny skies, the surf is consistently producing perfect 3ft rollers, with pods of dolphins all around, and the even back drop is usually a beautiful sunsets upon which to toast another perfect South African day, with a perfectly cold South African beer.
