I am typing this from Hong Kong international airport. I am on my way home from Indonesia. This trip is right up there as one of the best Ticket to Ride Surfing Adventures that I have ever been in on!
Fiji April 2011? It’s competitive lets just say that!
All of us on the Ticket to Ride team have been to Indonesia at some point in our surfing lives, so we all knew it would be an incredible place to run an adventure.
Our
4 week Ticket to Ride Indonesia adventure spends two weeks in Bali on Canggu beach before heading over by boat to the island of Lombok for 1 week and then Nusa Lembongan for the final week.
We also made it possible to break the trip down and choose between either joining the first 2 weeks in Bali or getting in on the 2 weeks Island hopping adventure surfing in Lombok and Nusa Lembongan
As with any
Ticket to Ride surfing adventure, you can get the locations right, the waves can be perfect and the culture unique and inspiring. However, it is our trip leaders that really make our adventures what they are.
In tune with our belief that local knowledge is key, we have brought in Aidan Salmon onto our Ticket to Ride Indonesia team. Aussie by birth, Aidan has been surfing in Indonesia for many years, he now calls Bali home and has a huge amount of experience not only running trips in Indonesia but also coaching surfing there too. We also flew in our head of African operations and most experienced Ticket to Ride trip leader and surf coach, Chris Bond. With these guys on the ground, we felt extremely confident in the fact that we had all our bases covered.
My 10 day drop in trip was planned to perfection by the guys as it made sure that I stayed and surfed in all three location whilst I was there.
Where’s the Video?
Now I must apologise, whilst everyone else at Ticket to Ride is doing a fantastic job putting together video updates of recent adventures, I have resigned myself to the fact that I really don’t have the skills or the patients for video editing. I can assure you that over the last 10 days, I have taken lots of footage, I just can’t bring myself up to speed with the editing side of things.
So please bare with me, as I give you the typed up run down of my take on Ticket to Ride Indonesia.
If this update is too old school for you, Chris is editing away with the footage we have got (although be warned, the waves in Indonesia were amazing when I left so don’t expect Chris to be holed up editing when the waves are pumping, this is against Ticket to Ride protocol.
