Looks nothing like the photo above, this was during a trial an error phase in the naughties.
This is our sixth season at the Surf House in Sri Lanka and the awesome team on the ground has built up such a solid reputation that we are basically booked out months in advance.
This is due to the people involved and our main person in Sri Lanka is ‘The Champ’ Nikita Robb. Nikita’s running the operations so we asked her what people can expect if they visit the Surf House:
“A day at the surf house is designed for those wanting to accelerate their learning, it’s the trip designed to make all your future surf trips better.”
Nikita Robb, Director
A surfing day starts at 6am for coffee and fruit, then we load up the tuk tuks and head off to whatever break is suitable for you.
The surf lesson lasts 2 hours before we head back for a delicious, hearty and healthy breakfast.
Afterwards you will go through surf theory and / or video analysis. Which option will be decided by the coach with regards to what will help you improve the most.
Surf specific training is at 11am either on the roof or at a fancy yoga shala with a pool down the road (depending on whether you’re doing yoga or functional training, again decided by what the group will benefit most from)
Theres a nice break for lunch and nap, though recently a lot of people have been getting a bit of laptop work done is this time, then there’s the option of a guided surf at 3:30pm, where you get the chance to practice what you have learned in the morning under the guidance of a surf instructor.
The evenings are spent socialising, playing cards and swapping stories on the rooftop, dinner at the Surf House is included 5 evenings per week and on a couple of nights we explore some of the many awesome bars and restaurants along the south coast, but it’s definitely an early night ready for an early start type of vibe.
