Hello from Ballito,
We are now finishing up the last stop of the trip and its a sad but exciting time too. We have been busy doing some fun things and getting some good waves, but with the last night coming up the reality is starting to set in that they are leaving this wonderful country and this great group of friends soon and heading home.
Amongst finishing up the courses and getting some really fun waves in Durban we had a really great day up in Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, a couple of hours north of us. Considering we were there for just half a day we were exceptionally lucky with what we saw. Starting off with seeing three elephants right in the road it was bound to be a great day. A game reserve is not even comparable to seeing animals in a zoo or behind a fence, and is definitely worth seeing. Watch the video to see more!
One of the huge benefits of staying at The Secret Spot is that those who want to can shape their own boards here. This is a rare opportunity, with many top surfers never having shaped their own boards so I was happy to see that four of them jumped at the opportunity. They are all looking good.
The flow rider yesterday was nothing but entertaining and fun. There were some amazing wipeouts (see the video) and some great rides too, notably from Duncan, Byron and Dan. It is really different to surfing and you kind of have to unlearn everything you have learnt! But it is loads of fun nonetheless.
Last night tonight before everyone heads off. It has been an amazing trip but I will put up one more blog once everyone has got off safely.
Watch the video to see what we get up to on the trip!
Take it easy,
Chris
