Regardless of where you are or how perfect the wave is right in front of you, surfers always like to mix it up and surf different waves. With the number of spots in our bay you couldn't help but wonder what was hiding in the many other bays in the area, so we decided to head off on a day boat trip to explore the next bay along.
With another early start we had a spectacular ride out of the bay and into the open water. It felt great being in a bigger boat and heading off on an adventure for new waves. The coastline is magnificent, and what really took our breath away when we came into the bay we were heading for was how perfect and clear the water was. It seemed this bay was a little shallower than the one we had been based in, and the crytal clear water showed the reef below us clearly, along with the fishes and sea life.
The waves were only a smallish 2 feet, but looked really fun and it didn't take long for everyone to jump overboard and head out into the lineup. In between the sets the ocean would look completely flat, and these little lines would show up on a reef further away before they came and hit us. Everyone had a really fun surf in the pristine conditions and it really was the tropical paradise one searches for.
After a long session the tide got a bit too high and we relaxed in the sun before scouting out the other surf spots in the area. We decided to head back towards home after a lunch of 'Nasi campur' (rice, vegetables, chicken and chilli in a takeaway brown packet). On the way back we went past one of the waves near the top of our bay which we knew worked on the higher tide, and paddled out for some fun waves to ourselves once again.
It was a great day out and always fun to see something new and different.
