Calling all students! Excitement is growing for the BUCS Surf Championships 2012 this weekend (18th – 21st October) down at Fistral beach, Newquay, where the swell is forecasted for an
epic showdown on the final day of competition.
With last year’s competition drawing in over 366 competitors over the 3 glorious days of competition, representing Universities all over the UK, from Aberdeen to Falmouth, making it one of the biggest surf competitions in the world, this year is looking no different.
With the sunny weather looking to follow the students down to the Cornish coast, the competition is looking all set for a great weekend of clean overhead swells, reminiscent of the ticket to ride BUCS surf championships in 2009 and blue skies to boot.
The BUCS championships provide a great way for energising university surf scene, bringing students together for a spectacular weekend of surf, sea and partying; plus a perfect reason to bunk off Thursday and Friday lectures and all that university reading that is starting to build up!
For all those beginner student surfers out there who are not competing, but want their first taste of the waves we are offering half price (£15) surf lessons at our surf school in Perranporth, just 10 minutes from Newquay, as a way of supporting student surfing. Free parking and changing facilities are provided, as well as board and wetsuit hire. Lessons will run 10:00-12:00, 12:00-14:00 and 14:00-16:00 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If interested feel free to ring us on 01872 888 480.
Ticket To Ride is proud to have been supporting student surfing since the start!
