We’ve been a busy bunch over the past few weeks and we’ve gotten to see and do a few amazing things. We left Cape Town and started our journey together up the East Coast on the hunt for waves. Our first stop was in Plettenberg Bay which has to be one of the most scenic Towns along the Garden Route. We arrived early and after a relaxing afternoon in the sun we got our stay underway with a traditional South African Braai.

We were very fortunate this time around in Plett, scoring some really good waves and great weather. We had great surfing conditions almost every day and it was a real step up for the group having the challenge of the faster, steeper and more powerful waves to contend with. It took a few sessions for everybody to get the hang of it and the commitment was incredible. The group really seem to love surfing and they put the hard work and hours in everyday to try and improve. There were a few beatings dished out as is almost customary in Plett and a few of the days really brought in some big swell, everybody gave it their all to test themselves in the conditions, after just 3 weeks of surfing it was incredible to see the determination in the water in waves that even more experienced surfers would struggle in and by the end of our stay in Plett it was safe to say we have a tough group of surfers on our hands.

Plett is situated in one of the most beautiful places in South Africa, the East Coast is home to the world renown Garden Route. The thick green and dense forests synonymous with the region are also home to some spectacular wildlife. We got to spend an afternoon with a few Ape’s and Monkey’s at MonkeyLand. We had a good laugh watching these playful and mischievous animals in their natural environment. The 12 hectares of protected land reserved for the Ape’s and Monkeys is one of the few places in the world where you can view these kinds of rehabilitated wildlife outside of cages

You cant stay in Plettenberg and not attempt the worlds highest bridge bungy! That’s exactly what we did, there were plenty of nervous faces as we made our way down to the Tsitsikamma Bridge and as you get closer the fight for sanity gets harder as you try and push your limits and face your fears. It’s an incredible life experience, people jump down as one person and get lifted up a completely new person, the pictures tell the story of what has to be one of the scariest things you could do in your life
Becca had no intention on ever doing the bungy jump but somehow we managed to get her to at least walk to the platform and decide from there if she could do it. There were tears and a slight bit of anxiety but in the end she managed to face one her greatest fears and jump the worlds highest bridge bungy at a whopping 216m! Check out her video
It’s been a great start to East Coast adventure and with so much more still to come it’s going to be an exciting journey.
Till next time
Luke 🙂
