As we know from a previous Facebook post, Will Hayler, co-founder of Ticket to Ride in 2005, is set for a head shave this afternoon. Unbeknown to Will, Guy (Will’s younger brother) set up a Crowdfunder page to raise £500 for The Royal Society for Blind Children if Will shaved his head on the coming Friday (today). By the time Will even found out about this sneaky plan by Guy, £370 had already been raised within a few hours the target was clearly going to be smashed. Being the legend that Will is, he happily took on the challenge with a grin on his face!
Within 24 hours the target had been hit and is now well above that, and the head shave on the other hand is going to happen at 2pm UK time today!
Some of you may have even challenged Will about ‘the solar panel’ that is developing and had responses such as “I don’t care Kelly Slater is bald and he is happy” or “The less hair I have… the wiser I look” or “Bald people look more digital”.
We’ve learnt two valuable lessons from this exercise:
1) £500 was a pretty low target. We not only hit the target, we smashed it out of the park! We are currently sitting on £1070.
2) There are a fair amount of people out there wanting to see Will with no hair. Let’s face it, there isn’t much left on his head anyway. It’s just speeding up the inevitable.
Now we have a new a target! Let’s see if we can get to £1500 before the timer runs out. Help us make a difference for a truly great cause!
