Whilst in Plettenberg Bay we offered to help out at a fairly new project helping Phakamisani Primary School. Pippa and her husband Willie Ford have come from a background of teaching in the Uk, Australia and Zimbabwe and have now dedicated themselves to be based in Plett helping out there through their company
Volunteering SA. The school is currently running at more than double the capacity it was designed for and classes are often conducted outside.
During our day at Phakamisani we split up the group into our various strengths and taught classes on our own, varying from Maths to English and of course sport. It was the last week of school so the teachers had marking to do and gladly passed the students onto us. It was an interesting and fun yet sad experience, seeing how the children didn't even have what we consider basic stationery such as a ruler.
I hope you enjoye the video and take a scroll through the photos to see what we got up to in the plaground.
