The sun is shining high over Jeffreys Bay today, and with only 3 full days left we’ve made sure that we’ve done every adventurous activity on offer.??It’s finally happened, all of the group have successfully thrown themselves out of planes! We saw the weather was coming good, so headed over to a nearby skydive centre in Grahamstown. With clear skies, and not a breath of wind everyone was able to do what we had been waiting so long for.
The experience lived up to it’s expectation with the group grinning from ear to ear until the small hours of the morning.??We’ve got involved in some great community projects, and put on a Christmas party for the children in a local day creache. We headed up there early in the morning to play with the children on their final day of term, we then headed inside and listened to them sing a few Christmas songs for us, and we in turn reciprocated with a fully acted out version of Rudolph. This went down an absolute hit, as did all the Christmas packs that we had made for the children. These were full of balloons, bubbles, chocolate, party poppers etc, and made sure that the party really ended the year with a bang.??Africa is known for it’s safari, and having the chance to see the big 5 in their natural environment is always an opportunity you to take.
You quickly realise why lions are the top of the food chain when you see them up close, but then suddenly find it hard to imagine when you’re playing with 2 week old cubs that don’t look like they could give your cat a run for it’s money.??We also took the chance to see the very rare site of a beached whale. It had died out at sea, and was washed up on a beach near where we are staying. Did you know that if a whale washes up on English shores it’s head must be presented to the Queen and it’s tail to the King? It’s true, one of those old fashioned laws, but we were all glad we weren’t back in Blighty as the smell of a severed whale head would have been quite difficult to stomach!??Not long to go now until the trip draws to a close, so we’re utilising the warm sunshine, with early starts and late finishes. Plenty more waves to be caught, and we’ll be capping the trip off with a traditional braai on Thursday evening. Its not over yet!??Blue skies,??L
