Outside of surfing we’d gotten to experience some of the best of what Cape Town has to offer. Starting with a beautiful scenic drive over the Chapmans Peak pass on our way to the Hout Bay Market where the guys enjoyed a leisurely walk around experiencing all the sights, sounds and tastes that were on offer.
We also enjoyed what turned out to be quite a strenuous hike up Table Mountain but the physical challenge was soon forgotten as we enjoyed the beautiful views of the whole peninsula, overlooking the CBD, Table Bay and all the way around the coast to False Bay. It was enjoyed a lot more knowing we had the comfort of the Cable Car to take us back down. We then enjoyed a lovely lunch at the illustrious Café Caprice in Camps Bay.
We had our first night out as a team at the Brass Bell as a few of the guys got stuck into some Wednesday karaoke. The girls couldn’t wait to get on the dance floor while the guys enjoyed a few beers and mingled with the locals. Friday night was even better as we headed to town to The Assembly to see the very popular Jeremy Loops live (one of South Africa’s top recording artists). The guys danced their hearts out and got to mix with the locals. We all had a fantastic time and enjoyed a few drinks before stopping for late night snacks on the way home. The team really love their Pizza.
Everybody was really excited as we finally made the decision after many a delay to go through to Simonstown and see the Penguins. We spent the morning walking around the beautiful Boulders Beach whilst enjoying the company of our little feathery friends. We ended off our day with some wine tasting at the Klein Constantia wine estate before heading home and enjoying a few card games at our beloved backpackers.
Check back in this week for more on community work and surfing in Cape Town.
