Plettenberg Bay (Plett) is the adventure stop on the trip, well each stop is an adventure so let me rather say the adrenaline stop. With the world's highest bridge bungy just down the road, and one of the best skydiving spots in the world we are guaranteed to have an exciting time. Throw in more challenging waves than Muizenberg and that's Plett in a nutshell.

I know we all hate to talk about the weather, well love to when there is nothing else to talk about but know it is just a filler. In this case it is just really to make you all jealous, especially those in the Northern Hemisphere enjoying winter at the moment. I don't know how else to describe the weather we had in Plett than as perfect. It was sunny, it wasn't too windy, there was very little cloud, it wasn't too hot at night… yep perfect. Perfect weather does not necessarily mean perfect waves, and we had quite strong onshore winds predicted for the week, but got lucky and managed to score some waves too.

The waves in Plett were very different to in Cape Town, presenting both a challenge to many and excitement to others. The waves are closer to the beach and more powerful than Muizenberg, but a little more friendly than Long Beach. AND, far more importantly, there were no crowds!! Never mind crowds, we had a pristine 2km long beach all to ourselves!

"Bloukrans is the highest bridge bungy in the world at 216m"

Throwing yourself off a bridge is no joke. Despite having a 100% track record at Bloukrans it is still very much against human nature to throw yourself off a bridge, rope attached or no! Throw in with that the epic footage of the bungy cord snapping at up at Vic Falls and it added that extra edge. Some people just outright refused, which I don't blame them to be honest, just the walk across the bridge was enough to get my knees trembling the first time (video coming soon…) I did it. Three goes later I still choose not to do it if I can think up an excuse! But the guys loved it and all those who wanted to do it went all out and the other joined on the bridge to be a part of the action.

"Jumping out of a plane at 10 000 feet and freefalling for 30 seconds was the best experience of my life"

To be honest the first time I went skydiving the whole experience was worth it just for the flight up. We chose the perfect day to do it, with just a light breeze and the aerial view of Plett and the surrounding area is second to none! Throw in jumping out of a small plane, freefalling for over 30 seconds at speeds around 200km/h and I will let your imagination do the rest. Matt was literally bouncing around for the next half hour!!

In the evenings in Plett is was about the braai and nice chilled evenings. The backpackers, Albergo's, lights a fire every night and it is a great social event cooking food, drinking beers and telling stories. The group really bonded well in Plett and set themselves up for an exciting trip ahead. Next stop has one of the world's best waves, Jeffreys Bay.

See ya soon,

Chris
