South African Surf Adventures| New Beginnings

It’s that time again, time for another epic 10 week adventure up South Africa’s east coast. This is probably the most multinational group I’ve ever had, we’ve got Brits, Americans, Canadians, Germans, a Dutchie, a Brazilian, an Australian, a Dane and even a dude from Hong Kong. Needless to say we’re a real mixed bag and 10 weeks of traveling together with people of varying ages from different cultures, places and backgrounds has gotta be a recipe for something awesome right? Plus we’ll be surfing and traveling one of the most incredible coastlines in the world!

The Crew

We got things underway in the water to test everybody’s ability, most are complete novices with very limited surfing experience and the others have a few more hours under their belt. It was great to see everybody excel in the tricky conditions with the help of our coaches.

Learning to surf is usually trickier than it seems, to some it comes more naturally than others but it is something that takes a lot of time and commitment regardless. The great benefit to our riders is that they have some of the best coaching at their disposal all the way up the coast and local knowledge on the ground to take advantage of. When you have somebody giving you constant feed back and pushing you and your ability in both good and bad conditions you’re in an environment that nurtures progression and you’ll start to reap reward.

Our first two weeks is spent in what Facebook assures me is the most beautiful city in the world, Cape Town. I have the privilege of calling it home and I can vouch for that. With two oceans, two coastlines, mountains, rivers, forests, desert, beaches, wildlife and an array of activities on offer we aim to get through a few of them whilst enjoying the waves on offer here.

Stay tuned for updates of our journey here, on the blog.

Cheers,

Luke 🙂
