No longer a stop on the world tour, the endlessly perfect waves of Jeffreys Bay are still right up there as some of the best surfing conditions in the world.
Jeffreys Bay is always a popular stop on our Ticket to Ride Surf Adventures in South Africa. We tend to spend more time in Jeffreys Bay than any other spots, largely to increase the chances of scoring surfing perfection! A good wave at Jeffreys bay is without a life stamp, and by this I mean, flying down the line for over 400M before flicking off the back ensure a feeling that lasts a lifetime!
Last week saw the Jeffreys bay host its new format Jeffreys Bay Open. The event had more of a celebratory feel to it. More about the surfing, less about the brands, webcasting and tour points. Surfing for surfing's sake!
Ticket to Ride has been priviledged to be at the centre of the South African surf community, and what an inspiring surf community it is. From surf house owners, to past and present pros, to national team coaches, we have been welcomed by them all and it is amazing to have their continued involvement in what we do in South Africa.
Nikita wins another title!
To cut to the chase, our very own trip leader Nikita Robb went all the way through to winning the women's event. Nikita is on quite a run at the moment in her own personal surfing career and it great to have her at the centre of the trips we are running.
Rudy Palmboom (ttride host at Ansteys Beach) went down in the Quarter finals, siting the young guns as stiff competition in the smaller Jbay conditions. Heidi Palmboom went one round better in the womens making the semi finals. However it was Nikita that one again made the headlines, winning the womens surfing event in style!
