“Hello and welcome to our Ticket to Ride Indonesia trip. Over the duration of the next four weeks I will do my best to immerse you in our exciting adventure in this amazing country with both photo and video blogs, now let’s get started!
Yesterday was filled primarily with airport pickups, and let me say that this is the one airport I have been to where you are really really happy to see a familiar face as you come through the exit doors. Facing you as you walk out into the blistering heat and humidity wondering why on earth you are still wearing shoes and jeans, you have hundreds of smiling Indonesian faces hoping it is your name on their piece of paper so that they can take you to some hotel.
Luckily it all went smoothly and the 10:30pm we were all together at the accommodation and had done the formalities of learning each others names as we set out on this trip together.
Today was a day willed with sun, fun, surf, some more surf and general good times. The swell has delivered off the bat, almost too big for the slightly jetlagged crew, but everyone got some really good waves with hi5’s and smiles all around.
Sore shoulders and sunburn blotches here and there we tucked into a BBQ right on the waters edge with a couple of Bintangs (local beer) to end off the day.
And so the trip begins…
