Hello and welcome to this, the first blog of a new trip. The July trip is a 6-week surf adventure from Cape Town to Durban stopping at several stops along the way including Jeffreys Bay. The group arrived safe and sound from various parts of the world on an absolute cracker of a day in Cape Town, with no wind and sunny skies. The only thing reminding us that it is the middle of winter was that slight chill in the air.
\n\"SurfingAfter Chris’s flight arrived slightly late we didn’t waste any time in throwing the group straight in the water for their first surf lesson. What better way to wear off the plane-lag than with a surf? Despit them all having done different amounts of surfing, we do the same basic beginner surf lesson for everyone to either teach them for the first time or brush up on the basics.

\nAfter going through some of the basics we did a good warmup, taught them all how to standup in a way to make sure that there surfing will keep progressing and after reminding them of a few safety essentials we got in the water! The group did really well and I was amazed at their ability. Even those who have done some surfing hadn’t been in the water for a long time, so it was great to see their stoke when the caught and rode waves. And the two who hadn’t surfed as much did really well getting some long rides all the way to the beach.

\nAfter the surf everyone was happy to jump in the hot showers at Lifestyle where we run the lessons from and then head back to the backpackers to settle into a beer and wait for the braai to be ready. Braai’ing is a big part of South African ‘culture’ and whether summer or winter we love a good braai. Boerewors was the main meat, with some pork chops and ostrich steaks thrown in for good measure with a huge delicious salad put together by their trip leader Nikita Robb.<\/p>\n

With bellies full and a long day behind them it was early to bed for the group as they get themselves amped for their next surf lesson. The weather and waves are looking great so don’t stray from these blogs for too long to make sure you don’t miss out what the group is getting up to.<\/p>\n
