Packing for a one week snowboard holiday is hard enough, so how on earth do you pack for a whole season? Fitting your whole life for the next five months into a bag is difficult. If you’re not careful you could end up taking everything including the kitchen sink…and then never using it! Less is definitely more when packing for your snowboard season. Here is a packing list of things you will ACTUALLY use\/ need and some tips on packing:<\/p>\n

Snowboard Equipment<\/h3>\n

Don’t worry if you don’t have any of your own, as you can hire stuff for the season at cheap seasonaire rates when you get there:<\/p>\n

Snowboard\u00a0<\/strong>– Take a spare if you have one – you don’t want to be sidelined whilst waiting for yours to be repaired<\/span><\/p>\n

Boots\u00a0<\/strong>– Break them in around the house at home to save cramp when you get there<\/span><\/p>\n

Bindings\u00a0<\/strong>– And spare parts if you have them, however, most snowboard shops in the mountains stock these too<\/span><\/p>\n

Helmet\u00a0<\/strong>– Safety first!<\/span><\/p>\n

Goggles\u00a0<\/strong>– Bring different lenses for different conditions<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunnies\u00a0<\/strong>– For spring riding\/ apres ski and around the resort<\/span><\/p>\n

Backpack\u00a0<\/strong>– Use it as your hand luggage on the journey over and then you can use it as a day pack on the mountain for essential items<\/span><\/p>\n

Snowboard Bag\u00a0<\/strong>– To take your snowboard in – its a lot easier than carrying it<\/span><\/p>\n

Transceiver\/ Shovel\/ Probe\u00a0<\/strong>– If you think you will be doing off piste<\/span><\/p>\n

Clothing:<\/h3>\n

Jacket\/ Pants\u00a0<\/strong>– Check for warmth\/ breathability\/ waterproof. Consider bringing<\/span>\u00a0a thinner jacket for spring conditions<\/span><\/p>\n

Thermals\u00a0<\/strong>– All-in-ones or separate top\/ leggings<\/span><\/p>\n

Snowboard Socks\u00a0<\/strong>– Pack a few of these, as they get stinky pretty quick!<\/span><\/p>\n

Gloves<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>– Bring liners for cold days and spring gloves for warm days<\/span><\/p>\n

Hats<\/strong> – Bring a few of these as different outfits need different colours! It’s also worth bringing one that fits under your snowboard helmet (ie. no bobble)<\/span><\/p>\n

Apres Gloves<\/strong> – As you don’t want to risk losing your expensive snowboard gloves in the bar<\/span><\/p>\n

Neck Warmers\/ Face Masks\/ Bandanas\/ Scarf\u00a0<\/strong>– For cold days and for fashion reasons!<\/span><\/p>\n

Jumpers\/ Hoodies\u00a0<\/strong>– You’ll live in these<\/span><\/p>\n

T-shirts\/ Tops<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jeans\/ Trousers<\/strong><\/p>\n

Swim Stuff<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>– Guaranteed you will end up in at least one hot tub during the season<\/span><\/p>\n

Flips Flops<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>– For walking to the hot tub!<\/span><\/p>\n

PJs<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>– Make sure they’re appropriate as people will most likely see you in them<\/span><\/p>\n

Underwear<\/strong><\/p>\n

Toiletries:<\/h3>\n

Tooth Paste \/ Tooth brush<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sun Cream<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>– Sun\/ wind\/ reflection off white snow = mega sunburn<\/span><\/p>\n

Moisturizer\/ After Sun<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hairbrush\/ Hairdryer\/ Straighteners \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Deodorant<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shampoo\/ Conditioner\/ Shower Gel<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>– Can buy these out there if you’re saving on space<\/span><\/p>\n

Razor\u00a0<\/strong>– Although people seem to like to ‘let’ their hair grow on a season!<\/span><\/p>\n

Waterproof Make-Up\u00a0<\/strong>– Mainly mascara<\/span><\/p>\n

Important items:<\/h3>\n

PASSPORT!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)\u00a0<\/strong>– An absolute must in order to access medical treatment at a reduced cost whilst you’re in an\u00a0EEA country or Switzerland.\u00a0The\u00a0EHIC is not an alternative to travel insurance! However, it’s free to apply, just as long as you register on the official website here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bank Card(s<\/strong><\/span>)<\/strong> – Good to have a spare if you lose one<\/span><\/p>\n

Credit Card\u00a0<\/strong>– Just in case!<\/span><\/p>\n

Driving license\u00a0<\/strong>– You may well end up needing to drive at some point. It can also be used as your ID, so you don’t have to take out your passport on nights out<\/span><\/p>\n

Visa Documents<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>– If required<\/span><\/p>\n

Things you might not think about:<\/h3>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

Ear Plugs<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>– Seasons are noisy. Earplugs are essential if you are more in the sleeping mood rather than party mood!<\/span><\/p>\n

Fancy Dress<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>– It is inevitable that at some point you will need some sort of fancy dress<\/span><\/p>\n

Duct tape\/ Needle\/ Thread\/ Cellotape\/ Safety Pins\u00a0<\/strong>– Also a given that at some point you will need to fix something. Can also be used to construct fancy dress<\/span><\/p>\n

Luxury Items\u00a0<\/strong>– Things that we take for granted in the UK become gold dust in a ski resort eg. ENGLISH tea bags, Cheddar Cheese and Marmite<\/span><\/p>\n

A Good Series\/ Movies and an Ipad\/ Laptop to watch it on\u00a0<\/strong>– There will be a lot of “down-time”, bad weather days\/ recovery days\/ hangover days, so you’ll need a good way to pass the time<\/span><\/p>\n

Mobile for Foreign Sim Card\u00a0<\/strong>– So much cheaper that using your UK phone!<\/span><\/p>\n

Snowboard Servicing Equipment<\/strong><\/span> (wax, file, iron, petex)\u00a0<\/strong>– If you are there for a whole season it will cost you a fortune to get your board serviced all the time. So DIY it!<\/span><\/p>\n

Music\u00a0<\/strong>– Get some playlists sorted as they’ll be good for riding and partying too<\/span><\/p>\n

Painkillers\u00a0<\/strong>– So cheap to buy in the UK compared to when you’re abroad, so stock up before you go<\/span><\/p>\n

Adapters\/ Extension Leads\u00a0<\/strong>– Just some handy things to have, as we surround ouselves with so many electrical items these days<\/span><\/p>\n

“Beer” Coat\u00a0<\/strong>– You’ll want something warm to wear out in the cold evenings that isn’t your expensive snowboard jacket.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wheat Bag\/ Hot Water Bottle\u00a0<\/strong>– For sore muscles and cosy nights in<\/span><\/p>\n

Slippers\u00a0<\/strong>– Just because! Always nice to have a touch of home<\/span><\/p>\n

Playing Cards\u00a0<\/strong>– Always a good thing to have<\/span><\/p>\n

Skateboard\u00a0<\/strong>– For when the snow melts<\/span><\/p>\n

What to leave at home:<\/h3>\n

High Heels\u00a0<\/strong>– It’s hard to walk in the snow and you will look ridiculous…<\/span><\/p>\n

“Going Out” Clothes\u00a0<\/strong>– You will never use them, especially those 10 nice dresses you’ve packed. You will just end up going to the pub in jeans and a hoody! The dress code is very different in the mountains<\/span><\/p>\n

Uggs\/ Hairy boots\u00a0<\/strong>– Seem like a good idea for the snow but they end up looking like soggy animals!<\/span><\/p>\n

Ear Muffs\u00a0<\/strong>– Even if they are trendy in the UK you will look like a t**t in a ski resort<\/span><\/p>\n

Packing the Board Bag:<\/h3>\n

The Board Bag\u00a0<\/strong>– is like a jigsaw (see pics) have a few attempts at different “arrangements” to see how best to fit everything in<\/span><\/p>\n
