It’s well known that Jeffreys Bay is the surfing mecca of South Africa, while best known for Supertubes (arguably the best right-hand point break in the world) there are a few other waves in the area that live in its shadow that is highly under-rated and overlooked. <\/p>\n

Two such waves happen to break right on the doorstep of our accommodation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Having quality waves on your doorstep is a luxury, one we encourage everybody to make the most of, and they obliged. As long as there were daylight and waves we had guys in the water.<\/p>\n

Jeffrey’s Bay<\/a> also marks the part of the trip where you’re really able to progress once on the open face given the amount of opportunity you have with turns as of the length of rides on offer here far surpass any other stop we have on the trip. So hours in the water can really pay off for you here<\/p>\n

The improvement we push for is aided by our use of one of South Africa’s top coaches; Etienne ‘Jeffreys bay’, he’s a multiple former national coach and the driving force behind many talented locals in Jbay. On this trip we didn’t get the same quality of waves that I’ve become accustomed to when visiting but we still had a few great days of waves and plenty of fun in the water.<\/p>\n

There is a reward for those who manage to improve enough whilst in Jeffreys Bay, we always take our groups down to Supertubes to watch it and on occasion for those up to the challenge, surf it. It was the same , n this trip and with quite a few guys in the group pushing themselves for progression we went for a session at Supers. We arrived and to our amazement, there was nobody out and a few fun 2-3footers rolling through, the perfect opportunity for us. So we surfed the worlds best right hand point break with nobody else out, the dream!<\/p>\n

Everybody else watched on as we traded waves, it was a huge step for the surfers in our group and their nervousness was matched by their bravery, the commitment paid off and they scored some epic rides whilst being cheered on by everybody on the shore<\/p>\n

This marked the highlight of our stay in Jbay, scoring Supertubes with nobody else but your mates out with you, it doesn’t get much better than that!<\/p>\n
