Safe to say that perception has completely flipped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I never thought I\u2019d come to the Maldives, let alone for three weeks. But here I am, doing some (very serious) quality control ahead of our upcoming Sri Lanka x Maldives organised trip. And honestly? It\u2019s just as beautiful as it looks, but with more charm, more culture, and is a lot more affordable than I ever expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Staying on a local island like Thulusdhoo changes everything. It\u2019s relaxed, authentic and makes this kind of trip totally doable for European travellers. Add in the fact that the surf season runs through summer, and suddenly the Maldives isn\u2019t just a dream, it\u2019s a genuine summer surf holiday option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you line it up with a week in Sri Lanka beforehand (direct flights in, and a quick hop between the two), it actually works out around the same price as a Cornish caravan holiday, but with professional coaching, reef breaks, coconuts, and tuna steak dinners for the price of a Boots meal deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve got a trip running at the end of August, over the Bank Holiday and into early September.
