Train to Level 1 & 2 standard in the Southern Hemisphere at the heart of New Zealand, and become a ski instructor in the awesome resort of Turoa.

Train to become an instructor in the awesome skifields of Turoa, an active volcano and an incredible location. Skiing on the North Island of New Zealand is a surreal experience unlike almost anything else on earth. We have created the best possible course out there to ensure you have an epic time and the best chance to achieve your NZSIA 1 & 2.

Spend time in stunning scenery in the Tongariro National Park and get to experience the incredible back country, shutes and gullies carved out of the volcanic rock over centuries.

We tried out all the ski fields in New Zealand before we decided to base ourselves in Ohakune and Turoa. For us the combination of laid-back kiwi life in Ohakune and steep, varied terrain in Turoa and Whakapapa was perfect. We live for adventure so the rugged, volcanic North Island in the beautiful National Park was more exciting than the touristy South Island resorts.

You should fly into Auckland before the start of the course, or on the course start date. A Ticket To Ride Representative will be at Auckland airport all day on Friday 12th July. We will provide accommodation overnight on Friday in Auckland as the transfer to Ohakune leaves at 9:00 the following morning. You will arrive in Ohakune to get settled into your accommodation around 15:00 on Saturday 13th July.

On departure, there will be a transfer from Ohakune back to Auckland provided for those who need it, but it is up to you to book your return flights at a sensible time either late on Saturday 21st July (should get back to Auckland 8pm ish all going well), or on Sunday 22nd July. If you need to stay overnight in Auckland then we recommend the BASE backpackers in central Auckland as it is close to the bus stop, but it is up to you to book this yourself.

Those looking to improve their skiing over all areas of the mountain giving their season focus and drive. You can expect to come out of the course a reformed skier and have a great knowledge of the mountain and conditions.

We ask that you can ski comfortably down red runs and occasional blacks

This performance course itinerary fits in well for people who are having seasons, and looking to make sure that they push their ability to the maximum level. The course consists of 3 coaching afternoons a week, with a lot of the training is about telling you what you need to focus on in your own time. This not only brings the cost down, but also means that the course is suitable for those working out in resort.

We suggest buying a good pair of all mountain skis that will hold on the hard pack but float in the powder. Watch Here Something like Salomon Rocker 2's.

Having completed this course you can expect your skiing to be at a very high level, so will be well placed to go on and take your instructor qualifications at a later date, and in time for your next season. The Basecamp team will be able to point you in the right direction with this
