Overview

Surf and explore the Mother City!

Crowned as one of the top destination in 2014, the legendary city of Cape Town offers a dramatic backdrop for a surf camp with a difference. It's easy to be blown away by the unique flavours of the 'rainbow nation', tours of historic vineyards and Mandela's inspiring story during your time in Cape Town - and the surfing is pretty special too.

Together with top local internationally qualified surf instructors and our Trip Leaders, you'll experience the ultimate introduction to South African surfing. You'll master the basics and feel more than comfortable surfing waters with varied wind and swell directions. You can take a look at our blog to see more of what it's really about!

What to Expect

Expect to receive the full Cape Town experience, stay right on the beach, get professional coaching every day and check out the best that Cape Town has to offer with your knowledgeable tour guides.

Surf Coaching

Cape Town is fortunate enough to have a peninsula, meaning it's always offshore somewhere and swell hunting is simple as it could ever be. Being mobile ensures that you'll be surfing the best waves on the day, for your ability. Beginners will love being right on Muizenberg beach as the waves are never too hard to handle. However, if you already know your way around a surfboard, then you'll enjoy tackling the great long rides out the back.

With internationally qualified instructors out in the water with you for the whole 12 days, you'll master everything from standing up for the first time to popping your first air.

Accommodation

You’ll sleep in spacious Ticket to Ride dorm rooms with high ceilings and wooden floors. The accommodation caters for surfers specifically and is right on the beachfront, with a pool table, surf movies and a balcony overlooking the surf.

Table Mountain Climb up the famous Table Mountain and drink in the spectacular views from the cable car on the journey down.

No, your surf and wetsuit rentals are included as part of your trip cost. It's pretty affordable to buy your own kit out here if you feel like it though!

Despite this common misconception, you won't see any of the big five roaming the streets in Cape Town. However, you may well come face to face with a baboon on the Peninsula which is scary enough!

Whilst there is crime in South Africa, and Cape Town, and if you looked at the statistics they do look bad, the majority of the crime is in the townships and rural areas. In all the Cape Town trips we have run we have not had any incidents of serious crime, other than common opportunistic crime where someone leaves their phone lying around or their shoes on the beach. The local knowledge of your guides and precautions taken provide a safe environment during your stay.
