Ponta Do Ouro is situated on the border of South Africa and Mozambique. It's a massive holiday location for many people all over South Africa. It's got a really good right hand point break and a long beach break. You can get long rides 200-300 meters long at the sand bottom point. The waters really warm and it doesn't get really crowded like many point breaks around the world and South Africa.

We were in Ponta for 3 days and the weather was good, but with some showers. When it rains it is still warm, it just means getting a little wet on the walk to the market or shops. There is a good local craft market, where you can get all sorts of things from picture frames, wooden carved fish, hearts and animals that have been carved out of wood or shell decorations.

Unfortunately on our stay in Ponta there wasn't much surf, the group just relaxed and went to the market. We did take a few walks on the beach to see the point and have a good look around. It's a very beautiful place and has its own vibe in Mozambique. It's also quite a party destination in the holidays. We went out a few nights, went to Fernados Bar where they serve the original R&R (local rum and raspberry) drink, it's really cheap and packs a punch. While out you meet lots of new people and the dance floor is always pumping.

They sell really good local chilli sauce which is always bought for gifts to those who like spicy food. We relaxed around the pool at our Accomadation; the pool is used for scuba diving lessons and courses. It's super deep and is always a great temperature. We had dinner at some local Mozambique restaurants where you get good food at a good price.

Thursday morning we packed the 4×4 and trailer and headed to the border to enter back into South Africa. On our drive we were all super bummed as the trip was coming to an end. We had dinner that evening and spoke about the trip, it's been an awesome trip and experience for everyone. There was talk of the guys wanting to come back and it wouldn't be the first time. Mozambique is paradise and is a special experience.

Friday morning we had our last breakfast and packed for our journeys back home. This trip offers a lot, from personal experience and exploring South Africa and Mozambique, to learning a lot about yourself (and learning to surf of course). Everyone has left the trip a changed person and have a different outlook on life. Live life to the fullest and always smile, be happy for what you have.

Happy festive season and Merry Christmas to all.
