Costa Rica 2017 has come to an abrupt end. Not literally, nothing bad happened, it was absolutely amazing, but I’ve been overly emotional over these past few travel days home, feeling as if it ended all too soon. But you know what They say, time flies when you’re having fun and as Dr. Seuss tells us, “today is our day. We’re off to great places, so let’s be on our way.” So don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.
Maybe my emotional state is due to the fact that the friendships made on this trip were real and strong, which might even be unprofessional given my line of work as a ‘Trip-Leader’, but spending a month with a group of people who know nothing about each other, yet have a shared interest, actually a desire, to surf a shit load, do yoga and have a good time, creates a group bond that is hard to detach.
So thank you, Molly and James for being such a happy, beautiful couple, I admire you both. Victoria, you are the best and that face needs to get off radio and on TV. Anna, thank you so much for listening and Sian I love your caring nature. Melanie, thank you for being as beautiful on the inside as you are on the outside. The Dynamic Duo, the Welsh Wizards Olly and Ryan, LOWE IT. Fearless Federico, you’re crazy in the surf in the most positive way. Brooke it was great to see you and that heart-warming smile again. Lois you legend, thank you for being you. Jay, your froth levels almost surpass mine, keep at it mate and great choice of new board, now you’ll really be stylin’.
Sarah, it was so good to see you again. Jodie, I love you girl. Don Jon, I love you MATE. Katie I loved the time spent with you, you have such an admirable love for life, so thank you for inspiring us all day err day (and thank you for that energetic yoga class when we all needed it the most.) and Tina thank you for keeping it real and brightening up all of our days with that smile. Hope you all enjoy some memories from the following shots.
Also, I should probably offer some sort of information in this blog, so it’s not just a heartfelt message and other readers can get an idea of life on Ticket to Ride Costa Rica. Well it goes a little something like this:
- Wake up to the sounds of the Jungle
- Sunrise Surf in like actual perfect waves (for intermediate + surfers)
- Eat amazing breakfast, we’re talking American style pancakes with bacon, breakfast burritos, gallo pinto with avocado, oh man I will go back just for this
- Surf out the front again whilst it’s still offshore
- Eat some more and, or CHILL IN A HAMMOCK whilst it’s onshore. I can not stress the importance of this hammock chill time
- Yoga up in the breezy tree house
- Sunset Surf with the local crew or just sit and watch with a beer as one of the most incredible sunsets on the planet lights up the sky
- Hang out, listen to live music, drink Fleur De Cana Rum and fresh coconut, go for dinner at one of the many epic spots in town
- Go to sleep satisfied and exhausted
If you need some of that in your life, and maybe want to meet some new life-long friends in the process, join me next year. Pura Vida.
