From J Bay to A Bay, here are the top 5 waves on our surf trips favouring those who put their left foot forward when facing the wave.

1. Kitchen Windows (Just up from J Bay), South Africa

Everyone’s heard of J Bay in South Africa, probably the best right hand point break in the world, but if you’ve never been to this region, what you won’t realise is that the ‘best right hand point break in the world’ is actually just one section of many right handers peeling down the same point and our favourite is Kitchen Windows.

The video above shows why, but it’s mainly because everyone flocks to the more popular spots, leaving it all to us and on our trips we stay at the accommodation right above so are always looking and getting lured in…

We run 3 – 13 week South Africa Surf Adventures stopping by this epic wave. Click here for more details.

2. Undisclosed Point Break, Arugam Bay Region, Sri Lanka

This spot is un-identifiable from the video as all the sand bottom reefs look the same in this part of Sri Lanka, so hopefully I won’t get told off for posting it.

It might not actually look like the most perfect wave ever but there’s something special about zipping down the line of a tropical right hander with hardly anyone else around, surfing til you can barely lift your arms or do the walk around any more.

If you go looking for it, take a 4×4, lots of water, sunscreen and snacks. Or come join us on our 3 week coast to coast tour and we’ll lead the way…

3. Tofino, Mozambique

This has to be Mozambique’s best wave. Its a long reef to a sand-bottom point with right-handers that peel forever. We take guests here with our tour guide Mr Mozambique, Ryan Ribbink, and score every time.

The fact the point goes from reef to sand means that even the less confident surfers get the waves of their life, whilst building up the confidence to work their way up the point and get a few from the top.

Spaces on our 3 Week 4×4 Mozambique Surf Adventure sell out every time, so get your deposit locked in if you want to join us.

4. Undisclosed, Indonesia

Ah man come on, Indonesia has the best waves in the World, I actually feel ashamed it’s come 4th in the list here but I’m writing this blog with the reader in mind, therefore scary shallow tubes (which Indonesia is known for) aren’t actually that appealing.

However, if you know where to look (or join our 2 week Island Hopping Tour) you will find some more user friendly barrels that would appeal to anyone who can stand up on a board.

5. Secrets, Ahangama Town Centre, Sri Lanka

We like to call this wave secrets as it’s right in the centre of Ahangama Town, less than 500m from the Ticket to Ride Surf House but has remained relatively quiet compared to the surrounding waves either side. Weird.

It’s a long, forgiving right hander that has a deep channel to take you back out after every wave. Or you can just ride a wave into Ahangama beach and grab a beer at Crust afterwards and enjoy an epic sunset (where this clip was filmed from and several Lions were enjoyed afterwards).

That’s just 5 of many right handers surfed on Ticket to Ride Surfing Adventures across the World. Have you surfed the above? Would you agree with me? Have I missed an epic spot out? Feel free to comment below.
