You've decided you want to escape the cold weather and treat yourself to a tropical Surf Adventure to Costa Rica. Next point of call is what do i pack?
By this stage the trip has started to become a reality and the excitement has set in. Costa Rica is an east one to pack for with the "less is more" attiude as the weather is so consitently good over there.
Weather and Seasons
Dry Season – December to April
Rainy Season – May to November

We run the majority of our Costa Rican Coures during the dry season so all you have to worry about is warm temperatures and clear blue skies… not too much of worry! During the dry season the temeratures will get up to the 30 degree mark with lows of 20 so you wont have to worry about bringing the wooly jumper along.

Wax
With the water in Costa Rica barely getting below 22 degrees centergrate, you'll need tropical white gold with you on your trip.Wax out in Costa Rica will be pricier than the UK as its imported so it's worth grabbing a few blocks in the UK before you you head out.
Boardies
Definitely no need for a wetsuit in Costa Rica so boardies and bakinis all the way! I would invest in a solid pair of boardies and or bakini as you'll pretty much be living in this during your time in Costa Rica. Make sure they're a flexible material and rash resistant. The new Hurley Phantom material is perfect and its worth every penny.
Rash Vest
Although we all love to get a tan, the sun is pretty brutal in Costa Rica so its a great idea to buy a rash vest to protect yourself when you've had a little too much UV and its great if you've stated to get a rash on your chest from all the paddling.
Fin Key
These little gems are always needed whereever you are in the world. They allow you to quickly change your Fin Set Up depending on the conditions.
Sun Cream
As we said, the sun is very strong out in Costa Rica so make sure you stock up on some good quality water resistant sun cream. Brands such as "Surfers Skin" are perfect and will stay on throughout your session in the water. It's also a good idea to invest in zinc for your lips and under your eye lids where the skin is very sensitive to the sun.
Ding Repair Kit
You never know if your board is gonna have a bad day when you're on a surf trip so its always worth bringing a simple repair kit so you can get back in the water as soon as possible.
Bubble Wrap and Pipe Lagging
The flight over to Costa Rica from the UK is pretty long and you'll need to change in somewhere such as the states. Boards always go through a beating travelling on a plane especially if you have a connection flight as they'll be moved from sirline to airline. Head down to your local DIY store and grab some bubble wrap and pipe insulation lagging to protect your sticks!
