Overview

Surf and explore the Mother City!

Crowned as one of the top destination in 2019, the legendary city of Cape Town offers a dramatic backdrop for a surf camp with a difference. It's easy to be blown away by the unique flavours of the 'rainbow nation', tours of historic vineyards and Mandela's inspiring story during your time in Cape Town - and the surfing is pretty special too.

Together with top local internationally qualified surf instructors and our Trip Leaders, you'll experience the ultimate introduction to South African surfing. You'll master the basics and feel more than comfortable surfing waters with varied wind and swell directions.

What to Expect

Expect to receive the full Cape Town experience, stay right on the beach, get professional coaching every day and check out the best that Cape Town has to offer with your knowledgeable tour guides.

Surf Coaching

Cape Town is fortunate enough to have a peninsula, meaning it's always offshore somewhere and swell hunting is simple as it could ever be. Being mobile ensures that you'll be surfing the best waves on the day, for your ability. Beginners will love being right on Muizenberg beach as the waves are never too hard to handle. However, if you already know your way around a surfboard, then you'll enjoy tackling the great long rides out the back and exploring the many other spots on offer in Cape Town!

With internationally qualified instructors out in the water with you for the whole two weeks, you'll master everything from standing up for the first time to popping your first air.

Accommodation

You’ll sleep in spacious single sex shared rooms. The accommodation caters for surfers specifically and is right on the beachfront, with a pool table, surf movies and a balcony overlooking the surf.

Also included

FAQs

Got a question about this course? Here's the best place to start. If you don't find your answer here, you can request a callback or get in touch using our contact page.

No, your surf and wetsuit rentals are included as part of your trip cost. It's pretty affordable to buy your own kit out here if you feel like it though!

Whilst there is crime in South Africa, and Cape Town, and if you looked at the statistics they do look bad, the majority of the crime is in the townships and rural areas. In all the Cape Town trips we have run we have not had any incidents of serious crime, other than common opportunistic crime where someone leaves their phone lying around or their shoes on the beach. The local knowledge of your guides and precautions taken provide a safe environment during your stay.

No, you can be a total beginner on arrival in Cape Town. Our experienced coaches can teach all levels from beginner - advanced and the coaching you recieve will be tailored to you as a surfer and your individual goals.

Food is not included in the trip. However, we offer a Food Add-On package which is £80 per week and includes breakfast every day and your supper 5 evenings a week (generally Monday - Friday.) It’s a popular option with our Riders and you can expect to eat a mixture of good home-cooked food and tasty meals out at local restaurants. Do let us know if you have any dietary requirements though, as we do NOT recommend this if you have a very restricted diet or vegan. If you are interested in this then ask the Bookings Team to add this to your invoice.
