Overview

Get out of the tourist trap and score the longest waves of your life!

Even though Indonesian boasts 17,000 idyllic islands, surfers since the 1980's have always headed to Bali, and more specifically, Uluwatu or Kuta. On this trip we head the other way and get out of the main surf spots by driving up the West Coast to discover perfect wave after perfect wave.

Expect a journey through rice paddies as we take in Bali's longest pointbreak, amongst a plethora of other spots.

What to Expect

With our local knowledge and experience, you'll certainly see more of Bali than the average surfer and will always find yourself in front the right spot at the right time, with the right tide and the right wind.

Your surfing will reach new heights as our surf coaches are on hand to answer any question you've ever had and guide you in and out of the water.

As much as you dream about surfing day in and day out, your body will need some time to rest, but don't worry, we take down time very seriously on this trip. Sometimes you'll be analysing video footage of your surfing and other times you'll be exploring the local area, having a bintang watching the waves or simply getting lost in a book on the beach.

Surfing ability

This trip is best suited to surfers with some experience, not total beginners. Whether you’re just starting to consistently surf green waves, or looking to land your first air, our coaching team will be ready for you. The entry level for this trip requires you to have confidence and knowledge in the water, and be confident in the basic skills in surfing.

These islands tend to be low to no risk areas of Indonesia. However, we recommend checking the latest government advice on Fit For Travel and consulting your GP before you leave.

It all depends on how much you want to spend. For example, a Nasi Goreng at a local warung will cost 25,000IDR (£1.25) and a beer is 25,000IDR (£1.25), yet a fillet steak and a cocktail at a fancy place in Canggu will cost around 250,000 (£12.50). It all depends on your budget, but we tend to eat frugally most of the time.

Yes you do.

Indonesian immigration issues a holiday visa on arrival to the following countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and USA.

You'll need to get a 30 day visa which are free upon arrival.

If you are staying longer (i.e. this 6-week trip) then we reccommend that you apply for an extended visa beforehand at home. Otherwise you can purchase the extended visa in Bali for around £30-£50. You will then have to jump through hoops for a while, so we'd recommend you organise a 60-day visa in advance of the trip.

Visas are only issued on the grounds that you have proof of return/onward travel out of Indonesia. You may also be asked to show proof of funds (often about £1,500), so it's always worth bringing a valid credit card for this purpose. You will also need £10 (approx 150,000 IDR) cash to pay your departure tax when leaving Indonesia – it's often included in most tickets nowadays but it does depend on the airline you fly with.
