Overview

Fly-in-fly-out during peak swell season - the Ultimate Mozambique Surf Strike Mission!

This two week 4x4 surf adventure enables you to explore the untapped magic of Mozambique scoring the best waves available in the peak swell season.

For the travelling surfer, Mozambique is heaven on earth, with its array of world-class tropical surf and unique vibe, that once experienced is never forgotten. Travelling South Africans have long spoken of the perfect sand-bottom point breaks that can be found up in Mozambique, and as more surfers ventured there, more waves were discovered.

On this trip, we have an exciting itinerary planned, and scoring great waves is top of the agenda!

You will be guided by our experienced trip leaders and we are stoked to be working once again with Ryan Ribbink (Mr Mozambique) who is a the top surf guide in the region, having taken the likes of Steph Gilmore, Gabriel Medina, Jordy Smith, Mikey Feb, Filipe Toledo and many more on trips in search of epic waves.

To put it simply, you are in safe hands if you're looking to score!

What to Expect

Enjoy stunning vistas, tropical waves, planetarium skies and indulge in the tasty mix of Portuguese-style food with a Mozambican twist. Life is rich in Mozambique.

Surf Coaching

The water is tropical and there's always a wave to catch, whether you're surfing the perfect sand-bottomed points or revelling in the beach breaks. One of the best things in Mozambique is the sheer length of the waves available, meaning you really get time to improve your surfing out in the water. With top guiding and coaching, your surfing will progress in leaps and bounds.

This trip is ideal for intermediate + surfers, who are comfortable catching their own unbroken waves and surfing down the line.

Trip Timeline

Here you'll find a day by day breakdown of your course.

  • Land in Inhambane Airport!

Once you land in Inhambane, you will be met by a trip leader and make the short drive to Turtle Cove, the first stop on our trip. Get settled in and a good nights sleep, before hitting the waves the following morning!

  • East sleep surf repeat in Tofo!

After a welcome briefing with your trip leaders, you'll head off for your first surf! In Tofo we can choose from the beach break, or a number of sections on the famous Tofino point break.

This week will be full of surfing, chilling and indulging in flavourful food. Turtle Cove is a real oasis and there is a yoga shala, as well as onsite restaurant and pool. We love walking to the local town to explore and eat as well.

  • Pomene Bliss

During the trip we will travel to Pomene (around a 4hr drive from Turtle Cove) to stay for 4-5 nights. Here you will enjoy a sandy point break and vast white sand beach, stunning starry skies and a true emersion in nature.

  • Return to Tofo

Following the trip to Pomene, we will return to Tofo for the final few days of the trip. Enjoy surfing, sunsets and a boat trip to hopefully see whale sharks!

  • Time to say farewell

After a final evening meal together, pack your things and get ready to depart the following day. You will be dropped off at Inhambane with sun kissed skin, salty hair and a memory bank full of amazing waves.

We recommend  arranging some cash currency in advance of your trip as ATMs can be a bit temperamental in Mozambique. The official currency is ‘Meticais’ but we recommend using the South African ‘Rand’. The exchange rate can be a bit confusing at first, so it’s good to have an idea of the quantity you’d like to get in advance:

Another useful way to carry your money is using a currency card, which you can top up online easily, provides a good exchange rate and are widely accepted abroad. We love Revolut cards and all our staff use them around the world. It is also worth carrying a credit card if you have one, which can be useful in case of emergencies. You may have issues with ATM’s in Mozambique, so always draw money in advance of needing it.
