Our base in Northern Sumatra, Indonesia is totally secluded and home to countless surf breaks, most of which are still to be named. This is picture perfect tropical island surfers paradise.
This seldom surfed region is open to the same groundswell that travels up the Indian Ocean lighting up all the famous surf spots in Indonesia.
Much like its neighbouring archipelagos, the waves arrive at its shores immaculately groomed with relentless frequency.
Being located just above the equator, winds are usually light or non existent, which shapes waves into something you could only dream of.
The amount of surf spots is a mystery and many spots remain nameless, but there’s a wide choice of lefts and rights, barrels and cruisey leg burners. We hope you’re ready…

What past riders say
Had a blast! I'd also really recommend river rafting in Bali and seeing and snorkelling with manta rays. The trip great and I wouldn't have changed a thing.Ryan Mills
I've had a fantastic time - it's been life changing! I'd recommend it to anyone who is keen to surf, keen to meet new people and keen to see a different part of the world, which is just spectacular.Matt Quinlan
Coming into the trip as a beginner was quite intimidating at first but it's actually totally fine. The coaching was incredible, they never pushed you to do anything that you weren't comfortable with and you'll improve super quickly.Sophie Altchek
It was amazing! I really enjoyed working with the Rip Curl Surf School as we taught kids from the local orphanage how to surf! It was pretty rewarding and really fun at the same time.
I honestly can't help but tell anyone who is thinking of doing this trip to sign up now, as you won't regret it and your surfing will definitely improve.Ronan Collins
I thoroughly enjoyed this trip and would highly recommend it! The Trip Leaders were incredibly knowledgeable with everything from surf coaching to travel advice. The destinations were beautiful and the local people of Indonesia blew me away with their kindness and hospitality. I gained far more than I spent and truly progressed at surfing, far beyond my initial goals.
Thanks for everything! TTR rocks!Kaitlin Klimosko

You would need to be an intermediate level surfer at least. The waves aren’t as gnarly as its more famous neighbours in Indonesia but they still pack a punch and although they tend to break deeper over the reefs, the coral is still just as sharp. To get the most out of the trip you would want to be catching lefts and rights comfortably and cruising down the line.
If you are fully vaccinated you must provide a COVID-19 vaccination certificate (physical or digital) with a complete vaccination and booster of COVID-19 at least 14 days before departure. If you aren't vaxxed, no entry :(
